Entrust Children's School Commute Safety to S-1
Mandatory DTG for School Vehicles... Safe Commute Solution Launched with Real-Time Boarding and Alighting Confirmation
Security company S-1 is accelerating its efforts to target the child safety market. Interest in related products has recently surged due to the revised Road Traffic Act, which mandates the installation of a Digital Tachograph (DTG) on newly registered children's school vehicles. Existing children's school vehicles must also complete DTG installation by the end of this year, leading the industry to anticipate market expansion. S-1 has applied its vehicle management solution brand ‘Ubis’ to children's school vehicles and launched the ‘Childcare Center School Commute Safety Solution,’ allowing parents to check their children's boarding and alighting status in real time.
According to industry sources on the 17th, it is expected that up to 100,000 children's school vehicles will be additionally equipped with DTGs this year. Failure to install a DTG will result in fines of 500,000 KRW for the first violation, 1,000,000 KRW for the second, and 1,500,000 KRW for the third. As the related market grows, S-1 expects sales of Ubis to increase accordingly.
Ubis is a solution that attaches a DTG to children's school vehicles to monitor driving routes, speeding, engine shutdowns, and other driving information in real time, helping ensure safe driving of children's school vehicles. Through advanced monitoring technology and the Internet of Things (IoT), the vehicle's status can be monitored in real time. This helps prevent accident-causing factors such as speeding and reckless driving in advance, supporting the safe operation of children's school vehicles.
S-1 cites its nationwide network of over 100 branches providing stable after-sales service (A/S) as a strength of Ubis. In a market where various companies are competing in the children's school vehicle safety solution sector, small businesses often lack A/S networks or have discontinued management due to closures. S-1 emphasizes prioritizing accurate and reliable service. In fact, companies such as BGF Retail, CJ CheilJedang, Samsung Electronics Service, SPC Group, and Maeil Dairies have already adopted S-1’s Ubis, reporting effects such as a reduction in accident rates. There have been cases where accident rates decreased by 80 percentage points. The market response has been enthusiastic, with Ubis sales increasing by about 45% over three years.
S-1 also launched the ‘Childcare Center School Commute Notification Solution,’ which allows parents to confirm their children's boarding and alighting from school buses and attendance at childcare centers. When a child’s card is recognized by card readers installed on the school bus and childcare center entrance, an automatic notification is sent to the parent's mobile phone.

In December last year, S-1 was also selected as a ‘Child Safety Education Specialist Institution.’ An S-1 official stated, "With the mandatory installation of DTGs on children's school vehicles, demand for related solutions is rapidly increasing, and sales of S-1 solutions are expected to continue growing." He added, "S-1 is now able to take responsibility for the overall safety of children's daily lives, from commuting to activities inside the center and returning home, by offering traffic accident prevention solutions and safety accident prevention education."
