Lee Jae-myung: "Yoon's Divisive Remarks... A Typical Case of Bad Politics That Incites Hatred"
"Concerns Over Promoting Gender and Generational Conflicts, Dividing the Nation"
"Bad Politics That Incite Hatred, Stir to Take Away Others' Small Possessions, and Gain Political Benefits Behind the Scenes"
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] On the 15th, Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, and Lee Jun-seok, the party leader, saying they are "making divisive remarks among the people as if it is nothing."
On this day, Candidate Lee shared a screenshot of Yoon's seven-character post calling for the "abolition of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family" on Facebook, saying, "Watching the recent election, I have witnessed several worrisome situations. One of them is the incitement of gender and generational conflicts."
Candidate Lee said, "This kind of election strategy is something unheard of until now," adding, "Even if they think that way inwardly, there was a taboo in politics and elections that they could not bring themselves to say out loud."
He pointed out, "The incitement of gender and generational conflicts share a commonality," saying, "It is no different from a second regionalism in that it divides the world into black and white and splits the people into two."
He then criticized, "It is a typical example of bad politics that stirs hatred toward each other, incites people to take away even small things from their opponents, while the instigator politically benefits greatly behind the scenes."
Candidate Lee emphasized, "I believe politics should play a role in mediating conflicts and uniting the community instead of fostering division," adding, "Although it may seem like a difficult path, I trust the collective intelligence of the people and intend to follow that path."
