President Moon Departs on 15th for Visits to 3 Middle Eastern Countries... Orders "Vigilance Against Korean Peninsula Tensions"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] President Moon Jae-in departed on the 15th for visits to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, and Egypt.
At Seoul Airport on the same day, President Moon was seen off by Jeon Hae-cheol, Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety; Kim Hyun-soo, Commander of the Air Force 15th Special Mission Wing; Yoo Young-min, Chief of Staff; and Suh Hoon, Director of the National Security Office.
President Moon instructed Chief of Staff Yoo, "Given concerns over the spread of the Omicron variant, please ensure that the quarantine situation is well managed under the leadership of the Prime Minister," and also urged the public to actively cooperate with quarantine measures.
He also instructed Director Suh, "I hope you do not lower vigilance to prevent tensions from arising on the Korean Peninsula," and ordered close monitoring of related developments. Additionally, he directed Minister Jeon to "support the rapid rescue of missing persons and accident recovery related to the collapse accident of the newly built apartment in Gwangju."
President Moon plans to visit three countries?UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt?our country's largest energy import sources and biggest overseas infrastructure and construction markets, from the 15th to the 22nd for a 6-night, 8-day schedule. He will conduct summit diplomacy aimed at stabilizing energy supply chains and securing future growth engines for Korean companies.

Meanwhile, during this trip, President Moon will board the newly introduced Boeing 747-8i model Air Force One. The previous Air Force One (Boeing 747-400), which completed major missions such as overseas trips of the President of the Republic of Korea for the past 11 years and 9 months, has been retired. Before departure, President Moon and the First Lady moved in front of the retired Air Force One for a commemorative photo.
