Various power and communication lines exposed above ground, which could exacerbate damage caused by earthquakes, will be buried underground.
Pohang City held a Green New Deal underground power line project agreement ceremony on the 14th.
This agreement ceremony involves Pohang City cooperating with the Korea Electric Power Corporation Daegu Headquarters to ensure the success of the underground power line project as part of the Heunghae Special Regeneration Project.
The project was finally selected in last year's underground power line project contest and is being promoted with support from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, with a total project cost of 3.94 billion KRW. The underground section covers the area from Heunghae Elementary School to Heunghae Rotary.
Section 1 is the area around Heunghae Market, which has the largest floating population and a concentration of commercial facilities in the region, and is the site of the 'Cultural Festival Street Creation Project.' It is expected to improve urban aesthetics and residential conditions.
Section 2 is the former Daesung Apartment area. As part of the Heunghae Special Regeneration Project, the construction of the largest anchor facility, the 'Happy City Harmony Platform,' is planned to revitalize the area and improve residents' quality of life.
