[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] Jang Hye-young, Chair of the Policy Committee of the Justice Party, stated that she is "communicating in a restrained manner" regarding Sim Sang-jung, the Justice Party presidential candidate, who was reported to have suddenly canceled her schedule and lost contact.
Chair Jang appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' on the morning of the 14th and said, "I understand that she is communicating with Representative Yeo Young-guk."
Regarding Sim's sudden full cancellation of future schedules on the 12th and her decision to reflect, Chair Jang said, "Citizens surely have a strong desire for regime change and to replace the politics fixed by the two major parties, but it seems that the Justice Party, as the vessel to receive that, has not been able to respond adequately, which appears to have caused a serious sense of crisis."
On the possibility of Sim's withdrawal, Chair Jang said, "As a member of the party, I can only believe that the candidate will come up with a good, wise, and best answer. Speaking personally, I don't think she is the type to resign or do such a thing," adding, "I think she is the type to see things through. That is my belief."
Regarding Sim's poor approval ratings, Chair Jang diagnosed, "It is because the Justice Party has not sufficiently conveyed to the citizens why it must exist in South Korean politics during the presidential election," and added, "I think this is a time for reflection."
Concerning the current two-party dominant structure of this presidential election, Chair Jang pointed out, "The microphone itself is not being given. Yesterday's TV debate also has legal TV debate standards set by the National Election Commission," and criticized, "The two major party candidates have agreed to debate only among themselves, infringing on the right to know even in the election, going beyond legal standards."

She then raised her voice, saying, "Democracy must respect the purpose of ensuring that the voices of the weak are not marginalized and that citizens can be informed. Announcing an agreement to erase the voices of the weak is inappropriate. It is disillusioning to see how they regard the people of South Korea and democracy."
