'Welfare Budget of 5 Trillion Won Era' ... Busan City Holds New Year's Meeting for Social Welfare Workers

On the 10th, Busan City held the '2022 Busan Social Welfare Workers New Year Meeting' attended by 23 people including Park Hyung-jun, Mayor of Busan, Oh Heung-suk, Chairman of the Busan Social Welfare Council, and heads of social welfare professional organizations.
The meeting was hosted and organized by the Busan Metropolitan City Social Welfare Council to spread a message of hope for welfare workers in Busan and to facilitate communication among social welfare professional organizations.
At the meeting, Mayor Park Hyung-jun of Busan said, “The entire Busan society is working with the direction of becoming a pillar of support to build a solid welfare system,” and added, “We ask for active cooperation this year as well to create stronger safety measures.”
Mayor Park added, “This year, the city’s welfare budget has exceeded 5.7 trillion won, which accounts for more than 40% of the total budget,” and said, “Policies are important to ensure that all citizens are happy and maintain a high quality of life, and to realize this, social welfare workers must be happy first, so we will continue to strive to improve the rights and interests of workers.”
Busan City plans to strengthen the social safety net for vulnerable groups and expand customized jobs for youth, women, and the middle-aged to realize mutually beneficial welfare.
