The United States Golf Association (USGA) announced on the 11th (Korean time) that "players who finish first in the Korn Ferry Tour season points will also receive a spot in the US Open," adding, "Granting the US Open entry to the Korn Ferry Tour leader for the following year is not a temporary measure but will continue going forward." This means a new category for US Open entry has been established for the Korn Ferry Tour season leader. The player who finishes first this season will compete in next year's US Open held at the Los Angeles Golf Course.

The USGA had previously granted the 2019 Korn Ferry Tour leader a spot in the 2020 US Open, but that was a one-time temporary measure. Since the PGA Tour abolished the Qualifying (Q) School, the Korn Ferry Tour has become the gateway to the PGA Tour, attracting promising players not only from the United States but from around the world. Im Sung-jae (24, CJ Logistics) also entered the PGA Tour after becoming the Korn Ferry Tour money leader. This year, the Korn Ferry Tour will hold 26 tournaments.
