The ‘Election Crime Investigation Situation Room,’ simultaneously opened on the 8th at 24 police stations across the province, will strictly respond to various illegal activities that may occur during the intensified election competition.
The situation room will strengthen intelligence gathering on various illegal activities related to the election until June 10 and cooperate with related organizations such as the Election Commission.
To this end, the number of personnel in the ‘Election Crime Investigation Task Force,’ which has been operating since November 9 last year, was increased by 67 to a total of 264, and cyber investigation personnel were also reinforced to respond to internet election crimes such as the spread of false information.
The police plan to focus on cracking down on the ‘five major election crimes’: bribery, spreading false information, government officials’ involvement in elections, election violence, and illegal group mobilization.
