Imsil-gun Selected for 'Green New Deal Undergrounding Project'... Secures 5 Billion KRW
[Imsil=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, has been selected for the 2022 Green New Deal Undergrounding Project aimed at creating a pleasant and safe walking environment.
The county announced on the 11th that it was finally selected for the Green New Deal Undergrounding Project necessary to improve the school route environment around Osu Elementary School in Osu-myeon and Galdam Elementary School in Gangjin-myeon, securing a total project cost of 5 billion KRW.
Previously, the undergrounding project required a financial burden shared 50% each by Korea Electric Power Corporation (including telecommunication companies) and local governments, but this project will be promoted with national funding support.
This project is promoted in line with the government-led 'Korean New Deal Policy,' with costs shared by the national government (20%), local governments (30%), and KEPCO and telecommunication companies (50%).
Out of the total project cost of 5 billion KRW, 1 billion KRW will be supported by the national government, 1.6 billion KRW by the county, and 2.4 billion KRW by KEPCO and telecommunication companies.
The project aims to improve the environment of school routes around Osu Elementary School in Osu-myeon and Galdam Elementary School in Gangjin-myeon by jointly installing underground power and communication lines in densely populated urban areas.
In particular, by receiving national funding to implement the undergrounding project for the school routes of Osu Elementary School (L=0.65 km) in Osu-myeon and Galdam Elementary School (L=0.9 km) in Gangjin-myeon, budget savings can be expected.
The county plans to start construction of the underground distribution lines in May after completing the detailed design following an agreement between KEPCO and telecommunication companies and holding a residents' briefing session.
Subsequently, temporary restoration work will be completed by September, and full restoration of roads and sidewalks is expected to be finished before the end of this year.
Upon completion of the project, it is expected to secure the safety of pedestrians including students and revitalize the local economy by improving the urban landscape.
The county sees this as a fundamental infrastructure project for creating a clean city of Imsil, which will contribute to enhancing the clean image and strengthening regional competitiveness.
A county official said, "Once the undergrounding project is completed, it will greatly prevent safety accidents by creating a pleasant urban landscape and securing safe school routes for students," adding, "We will continue to actively promote projects that are essential for residents' lives and safety."
