The opening ceremony in the morning was attended by Jeonnam Superintendent of Education Jang Seok-woong, Zhang Chenggang, Consul General of China in Gwangju, and Yang Ki-jung, President of the Jeonnam Secondary Art Subject Education Research Association, among others.
The exhibition features about 30 artworks by elementary, middle, and high school students from the Shanxi Provincial Department of Education, including watercolor paintings, ink paintings, and calligraphy, along with about 10 artworks by Jeonnam students. This exhibition is a student art exchange between the two countries, and about 30 works by Jeonnam students were exhibited at the Shanxi Provincial Department of Education in China last December.
Additionally, as a special event at the opening, Chinese calligraphers and painters created calligraphy and ink paintings on the spot as gifts for gallery visitors, gaining great popularity.
Zhang Chenggang, Consul General of China in Gwangju, said in his congratulatory speech, “The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education and the Shanxi Provincial Department of Education in China have been actively exchanging activities online, but today it is a new feeling to hold an exchange exhibition directly at the Jeonnam Office of Education. We will continue to provide strong support for exchange activities between the two countries.”
