Refusal of Breath Test and Pushing Police Officer... On-Duty Police Chief Arrested in the Act
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] An active-duty police officer affiliated with the National Police Agency was arrested on the spot for refusing a breathalyzer test and pushing the responding officers.
According to the police on the 8th, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul is investigating Sergeant A, in his 50s, on charges of obstruction of official duties and refusal to take a breathalyzer test under the Road Traffic Act.
Sergeant A is accused of driving under the influence in a heavily intoxicated state at around 6:39 PM the previous day in a restaurant parking lot on Seolleung-ro, Gangnam-gu. Police officers who responded to a citizen's report requested Sergeant A to take a breathalyzer test. Sergeant A reportedly pushed the officers and engaged in a physical struggle to refuse the test.
