Musk's 'Starlink' Surpasses 145,000 Subscribers... Growth Rate 'Slows Down'
[Asia Economy Reporter Junhyung Lee] The number of subscribers to SpaceX's satellite internet service 'Starlink' has exceeded 145,000 across 25 countries worldwide. SpaceX is a company led by Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
According to CNBC on the 6th (local time), SpaceX engineer Jesse Anderson appeared on a live internet broadcast covering SpaceX's first satellite launch of the year and revealed this information. The number of Starlink subscribers increased by about 5,000 from 140,000 in November last year to 145,000 recently. Considering that since SpaceX launched Starlink in October 2020, the subscriber base has grown by about 11,000 each month, there are concerns that the growth rate has slowed down.
Starlink is a business operating ultra-high-speed internet services accessible worldwide through 12,000 low-earth orbit small satellites. On this day, SpaceX launched 49 Starlink satellites aboard the 'Falcon 9' rocket from Florida.
