Jeju Police Hold 'Major Work Plan Report Meeting'... Discuss Policy Directions

[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] Jeju Police Agency (Chief Go Gi-cheol) announced on the 7th that it held the ‘2022 Major Work Plan Report Meeting’ on the 6th at the 4th floor Tamna Sangbang of Jeju Police Agency, attended by heads of each department and station/unit/detachment commanders of Jeju Police Agency.

The meeting analyzed last year’s public safety achievements and discussed the direction of public safety policies for 2022 and key tasks to be promoted in each field. It was organized to promptly establish the direction of public safety policies and to carry out public safety activities with a sense of speed.

With the advent of the ‘Autonomous Police Era,’ Jeju Police decided to build a ‘Jeju-type Public Safety Governance’ that addresses public safety issues by consolidating the capabilities of Jeju Police Agency and the Autonomous Police Unit centered on the Jeju Autonomous Police Committee, and sharing and solving public safety issues with various local institutions and organizations including civilian, government, and academic sectors.

Through big data analysis, public safety personnel and equipment will be selectively concentrated on crime, accidents, and inconvenience factors to enhance the efficiency of public safety, and scientific and future-oriented public safety activities will be promoted by integrating new technologies such as AI and drones into public safety.

Go Gi-cheol, Chief of Jeju Police Agency, said, “From field police officers to commanders, ‘Jeju Police is one team,’ and we must consolidate our capabilities in one direction to secure the safety of citizens from crimes and accidents such as violence against women and voice phishing,” adding, “Residents should participate in the entire process from policy establishment to evaluation and reward to achieve practical results, and we must put our heads together.”

He continued, “Before implementing policies, please establish a policy promotion system that publicly announces (promises) through the media and regularly shares the results.”
