City Labs "MMORPG TaegoM, Cloud-Based 'KT Game Box' Entry"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Citylabs, a KOSDAQ-listed company, has confirmed the entry of the traditional oriental MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) ‘TaegoM,’ which is scheduled for official service launch later this month, into KT’s cloud-based game service platform ‘GameBOX.’
With high expectations for success, having surpassed 500,000 pre-registrations ahead of the official launch, the strategy is to expand service channels to secure potential users.
KT’s ‘GameBOX’ offers over 120 games through a streaming game operation method via cloud servers. Subscribers can enjoy various games instantly without restrictions by simply installing an app or accessing a webpage on smartphones, IPTV, PCs, etc., significantly improving accessibility to the game market, which had been limited to console devices.
‘TaegoM’ is Citylabs’ first publishing game, launched as a new business venture into the gaming market last year. Developed by Gaiamobile, ‘TaegoM’ offers rich content such as story, raids, and PVP, allowing users to enjoy according to their preferences. Since its initial release in 2020, it has ranked within the top 5 in key Asian markets including China, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Citylabs CEO Cho Youngjoong stated, “With the recent increase in ‘stay-at-home’ demand due to the spread of non-face-to-face culture, the number of potential customers in the gaming market is growing. KT GameBOX’s entry will provide an opportunity to significantly broaden the user touchpoints for ‘TaegoM,’ which is about to launch officially. We will continue to consider ways to expand user touchpoints in various ways during the remaining period before the official service, and we will carry out preparations for the game launch without any setbacks to meet the high interest and expectations generated since the pre-registration phase.”
