Lee Jun-seok's Resignation Resolution Meeting Faces Turmoil Over Meeting Disclosure... Lee Jun-seok Asks, "Why Can't I Speak Publicly?"
[Asia Economy reporters Naju-seok and Park Joon-yi] A meeting of the People Power Party (PPP) lawmakers was held on the 6th regarding the adoption of a resolution for Lee Jun-seok, the PPP leader, to resign. However, there is a significant difference of opinion over whether the meeting should be open to the public. Lee’s side, which demanded the meeting be open, is requesting to make public remarks, but this has not been accepted.
Lee, who was initially expected to attend the lawmakers' meeting at 2 p.m., met with reporters in front of the party leader’s office and said, "I have serious concerns about the fact that public remarks by the party leader are not allowed at the lawmakers' meeting itself," adding, "Above all, I hope to communicate with the lawmakers promptly through the meeting."
He said, "Formally, if all lawmakers want, I am willing to cancel all other schedules today and engage in unlimited debate," and "If today is not enough, I plan to continue over several days."

The People Power Party planned to hold a lawmakers' meeting at the National Assembly in the afternoon following the morning session to discuss issues including the resolution for Lee’s resignation. Lee was scheduled to attend the meeting at the request of Kim Ki-hyun, the PPP floor leader, but Lee is refusing to go to the meeting room because the meeting is being held behind closed doors.
When reporters asked who opposes making the meeting public, Lee explained, "I have not been contacted yet."
