Ottogi Launches Two New 'X.O. Mandu' Products
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] Ottogi announced on the 6th that it will launch two new products of ‘X.O. Mandu’.
The new products consist of two types: X.O. Gyoza Meat & Jeju Garlic and X.O. Mini Fried Mandu Meat. They are characterized by a filling packed tightly without glass noodles. The ‘X.O. Gyoza Meat & Jeju Garlic’ is filled with garlic and meat instead of glass noodles, featuring a special garlic sauce made by fermenting fresh Jeju garlic for a day, combined with domestic pork and various vegetables. The ‘X.O. Mini Fried Mandu Meat’ is filled with domestic pork instead of glass noodles.
The reason Ottogi is strengthening its mandu lineup is due to the growing frozen mandu market. According to Nielsen Korea, last year the domestic frozen mandu market was about 545.5 billion KRW, showing continuous growth following 491.2 billion KRW in 2018 and 507.8 billion KRW in 2019. This is interpreted as a result of the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, which expanded the preference for home-cooked meals.
