KCCI-KOSME Publish 'Serious Accident Act Safety Management Diagnosis Manual'
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] The Korea Employers Federation and the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business announced on the 6th that they have jointly published the "Safety Management Diagnosis Manual for Small and Medium Enterprises in Response to the Serious Accidents Punishment Act" to help SMEs respond to the Serious Accidents Punishment Act and enhance their safety management capabilities.
The manual includes ▲ explanations of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act and its enforcement decree ▲ a self-diagnosis checklist for fulfilling safety and health obligations ▲ diagnosis results and improvement plans for workplaces based on the checklist ▲ and document templates necessary for safety management activities.
A representative from the Korea Employers Federation stated, "Although the Serious Accidents Punishment Act is set to be fully enforced this year, small and medium enterprises are facing difficulties in complying with the law due to financial and human resource constraints."
They added, "Since in most SMEs the owner is also the CEO and management responsible person, the occurrence of a serious accident not only results in severe penalties but may also lead to business suspension or closure, causing significant burden and concern."
