At the ceremony, only the new members participating as residents' autonomy committee members for the first time this year attended as representatives and received appointment letters from Mayor Heo Seong-mu. They took time to reaffirm their roles and determination as residents' autonomy committee members.
The 328 members from 11 eup, myeon, and dong areas, whose terms began in January, will serve as grassroots residents' autonomy agents for the next two years, carrying out the duties of resident representatives for residents' autonomy and village development.
The city has been implementing residents' autonomy committees in 55 eup, myeon, and dong areas since 2021. Starting this year, all eup, myeon, and dong areas will actively carry out autonomous projects directly decided by residents through residents' general meetings.
