According to foreign media including the BBC on the 4th (local time), a newborn baby boy was found abandoned in the trash bin of the restroom on an Air Mauritius flight that departed from Madagascar and arrived at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in Mauritius on the 1st.
Airport officials discovered the newborn baby in the airplane restroom trash bin during a routine inspection after the plane landed.
The officials suspected a female passenger and reported her to the police, who arrested a woman in her 20s from Madagascar on charges of giving birth and abandoning the baby on the plane.
The woman, who arrived in Mauritius with a two-year work visa, initially denied that the newborn was her son.
However, a medical examination revealed that she had given birth only a few hours prior.
