[New Year's Message] Choi Jin-hwan, President of SK Broadband, "Corporate Culture is Key to Business Growth"
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] On the 3rd, Choi Jin-hwan, CEO of SK Broadband, stated in his New Year's address, "This year marks the 25th anniversary of our founding. Let us take pride in what we do and move forward with excitement toward the next 10 and 20 years."
Choi diagnosed this year's market environment by noting that amid the COVID-19 situation, the normalization of non-face-to-face consumption, the explosion of data traffic, and the acceleration of digital transformation among companies are expected, which will present tremendous growth opportunities for the company.
He also shared four growth strategies the company must implement this year, emphasizing that an environment demanding change and challenge is right before us.
First, he emphasized 'Smart Growth' through selection and concentration, prioritizing customer value. Along with expanding urban coverage and responding to increased media usage via mobile, infrastructure investments will be expanded, and synergy with telecom companies and online marketing capabilities will be significantly strengthened to attract customers.
Next, he said it is important to enhance business competitiveness through strong alliances and cooperation with domestic and international partners. In B2C, synergy with the native online video service Wavve and expanded joint investments among the three IPTV companies will be pursued, and partnerships with global content companies such as Apple and HBO will be further strengthened. In B2B, based on partnerships with major solution providers, the scope of services to support corporate customers' growth will be greatly expanded.
He also mentioned that a growth strategy (Scale up) is needed in growth areas as soon as possible. For new businesses where investments have recently increased?OTT aggregation boxes, electric vehicle charging services, and data centers?he stressed the urgent need for early large-scale business expansion through quick responses to customer appeal points and active partnerships with other companies within the ecosystem.
Lastly, he stated that the ESG management system should be further upgraded so that ESG activities become a daily part of management and employees' work. Building on last year's achievements, the company will concretize a carbon-neutral (Net zero) approach optimized for its business model and, furthermore, prepare and expand various institutional considerations and activities for a warmer and more empathetic social community.
He said the core of this business growth lies in corporate culture and presented three keywords: ▲ 'One Team Spirit' to strengthen collaboration with SK Telecom ▲ 'Bold Execution' for more daring implementation ▲ 'Fun & Together' to communicate in various ways amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
