[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Je-hoon] The Korea Employers Federation (KEF) stated on the 3rd regarding President Moon Jae-in's New Year's address, "Creating a 'business-friendly environment' is of utmost importance for our economy to overcome the crisis and regain corporate vitality."
In a statement released that day, KEF expressed agreement with the president's determination "to overcome the COVID-19 crisis, restore daily life, and advance as a leading nation guiding the world."
KEF pointed out that "this year’s economic environment is fraught with external uncertainties such as the spread of COVID-19 variants, ongoing US-China conflicts, China's economic slowdown, and rising international oil and raw material prices," adding, "Domestically, regulatory bills that restrict corporate management activities are being legislated simultaneously, and the sense of crisis felt by companies remains significant."
Furthermore, KEF emphasized the need to establish a business-friendly environment, stating, "With the 20th presidential election scheduled for March this year, we urge the next government to prioritize and prepare policy pledges that ensure an environment where free economic activities and entrepreneurial spirit are respected."

KEF also expressed hope for "more active communication between the government and the business community this year," and stated, "The business community will devote itself to investment, innovation, and job creation to make this year a year of economic recovery and leap forward."
