On May 14 (local time), President Trump stated at the state banquet hosted by President Xi at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, China, "We have had very positive and productive discussions and meetings with the Chinese delegation." He added, "Tonight is another valuable opportunity to talk as friends about some of the issues we discussed. All of these are good things for both the United States and China."
