Gyeonggi-do Supports Traditional Markets with 'Facility Modernization and Fire Safety Enhancement'
12 Facility Modernizations and Fire Safety Enhancements at 99 Locations
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gyeonggi Province will undertake modernization of traditional market facilities and strengthen fire safety measures this year.
According to the province on the 3rd, the project targets a total of 111 locations including traditional markets and shopping districts, with a total budget of 4.28 billion KRW.
For the modernization of traditional market facilities, 12 sites including Wonjong Jungang Market and Jeongok Traditional Market were selected as project sites, with a total budget of 3.02 billion KRW to support the installation and renovation of convenience facilities such as arcades, delivery centers, customer support centers, and public restrooms.
In four areas including safety facility improvements, fire safety personnel, fire package insurance, and safety expansion, 99 locations including Motgol General Market and Ilsan Traditional Market were selected, with a total budget of 1.26 billion KRW invested.
Safety facility improvements (7 locations including Nammun Fashion 1st Street Market) will receive 350 million KRW; fire safety personnel support (16 locations with 29 personnel including Yeokgok Sangsang Market) will receive 250 million KRW; fire package insurance subscription support (41 locations with about 3,400 stores including Tongbok Market) will receive 560 million KRW.
In the safety expansion area, with a total budget of 100 million KRW, Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and visible fire extinguishers will be installed at 19 locations (19 units) including Gwangmyeong Saemaeul Market, and 16 locations (64 units) including Osan Wondong Shopping District.
