[New Year's Message] Jin Ok-dong, Shinhan Bank CEO, "We Will Present a Unique Platform"

[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] Jin Ok-dong, CEO of Shinhan Bank, stated on the 2nd, "We will focus all of Shinhan's experience and capabilities on developing a new personal banking application (app) and a comprehensive corporate finance platform scheduled for release this year."
In his New Year's address, CEO Jin said, "We will listen to the demands of customers and the times to present a unique platform."
He identified the key tasks for this year as "an easier, more comfortable, and newer platform" and "social finance through sustainable management."
First, he mentioned, "Offline branches are our unique platform clearly differentiated from tech companies," adding, "This year, we plan to devote more effort to revitalizing offline channels."
He emphasized, "Through innovation in the counter system, we will provide customized solutions for each customer and successfully establish the newly launched dedicated branch manager (SRM) system for large corporate clients, rewarding customers who choose Shinhan with more professional services."
He continued, "We must expand opportunities through horizontal innovation that crosses industry boundaries. By connecting data from different fields through partnerships, we can create new value," and added, "I hope the delivery app, launched amid great interest, will become a catalyst for realizing the protocol economy."
Furthermore, he said, "We must also concentrate our capabilities on the digital transformation of 164 overseas networks in 20 countries," adding, "We will pioneer new business areas through active partnerships with local overseas platforms."
CEO Jin also announced, "In line with Shinhan Financial Group's mid-term environmental vision 'Zero Carbon Drive,' we will focus on eco-friendly financial investments encompassing loans and project financing," and stated, "Through systematic management of the bank's ESG (environment, social, governance) strategy, we will widely spread the positive influence of finance."
He further expressed, "We will expand support for small business owners and self-employed individuals amid the COVID-19 crisis so that all members of society can enjoy financial benefits," and said, "We will build a precise credit evaluation system based on machine learning to eliminate financial blind spots and strengthen the 'Moneyverse' platform, enabling everyone to equally manage their valuable assets."
