Message of Comfort and Healing for Citizens Weary from Prolonged COVID-19 Pandemic
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hye-young] An 8-meter-tall giant tiger will welcome citizens at COEX Plaza in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
The Korea International Trade Association, Gangnam-gu, the COEX MICE Cluster Committee, and 13 other organizations announced on the 23rd that they will present an art exhibition wishing for the "Soaring" of the Year of the Black Tiger (Im In Year, 壬寅年) at the "COEX Winter Gallery 2021."
At COEX Plaza, a large-scale sculpture of an 8-meter-tall tiger character, symbolizing the upcoming 2022 Year of the Black Tiger, will be installed. The piece is designed as "Ddoongrangi," a popular character from the illustration brand "Mujik Tiger," which has recently gained attention among the MZ generation. It conveys a message of comfort and healing to citizens weary from the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
At the COEX K-POP Square electronic billboard, a giant black tiger (Heukho, 黑虎) media art wishing for a swift recovery of daily life in the new year will be showcased.
Idol group "Omega X" will serve as the Winter Gallery ambassadors, performing digital busking and on-tact promotional activities. Inside the COEX lobby, the "NFT Gallery," hosted by the NFT exchange Eden Loop and Brand Architects, will open, exhibiting digital works by 24 domestic artists across various genres.
In addition, various programs will be held, including a Christmas tree exhibition, Naver Cultural Foundation digital busking, an "Insaeng Ne Cut" photo booth, and the 2022 New Year's countdown wish lanterns on Yeongdong-daero. The Winter Gallery can also be enjoyed on-tact.
