‘People Who Shined Korea Awards’... Double Celebration with Social Service Merit Award

[Muan＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Kim Kyung-hyun, a member of the Muan County Council in Jeollanam-do, was honored with the Excellence Award at the '2021 Korea Local Autonomy Evaluation-linked Legislative Award.'

According to the county council on the 22nd, the Local Autonomy Evaluation-linked Legislative Award is organized by the Yeouido Policy Research Institute and is given to members of metropolitan and basic local councils nationwide who have contributed to the development of local autonomy by promoting resident happiness policies and encouraging competitive regional development measures.

This award is especially meaningful as it is Kim’s second time receiving it, following the Excellence Award in 2018.

Kim served as the Chair of the Industry and Construction Committee in the first half and the Chair of the Council Operation Planning Committee in the latter half of the 8th Muan County Council. He was recognized for his active legislative activities aimed at resolving issues in member legislation, transportation, and the local economy.

In particular, he significantly contributed to improving the quality of life for county residents through 12 lifestyle-oriented ordinances, including the 'Ordinance on Installation and Support of Firefighting Facilities for Residential Use in Muan County,' and timely council inquiries regarding the improvement of the public transportation system in Namak New Town.

Councilor Kim Kyung-hyun said, “More than the joy of receiving the award, I am concerned about the residents who are struggling due to COVID-19. Since these are difficult times for everyone, I will continue to carry out legislative activities that truly empower the residents.”

Meanwhile, last month, he attracted attention by receiving the Social Service Merit Award at the '2021 People Who Shined Korea Awards,' hosted by the Korea Newspaper Reporters Association and others.

This award is interpreted as recognition for Kim’s continuous early morning cleaning volunteer work during his legislative activities, serving as a role model to those around him.
