Samjong KPMG Hosts 2021 KPMG Global Cyber Day
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jihwan] Samjong KPMG announced on the 21st that it held the ‘2021 KPMG Global Cyber Day’ event on the 20th at Seonyu Elementary School in Seoul, providing cyber security threat response strategies to about 60 students.
‘KPMG Global Cyber Day’ is an official event of KPMG Global that has been held since 2017. It is held annually to emphasize the importance of cyber security to students worldwide. This year, a total of 51 countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, and Spain participated. Samjong KPMG also gave a cyber security-related lecture to domestic students under the theme of ‘Safe Internet Use and Personal Information Protection.’
At the event, Samjong KPMG cyber security experts provided information protection measures to safely protect individuals from cyber threats arising from the evolving information technology (IT) environment. They also introduced cyber security methods in online gaming and SNS environments.
In the lecture on spam and phishing damage cases, actual phishing pages were created to explain security threat cases using students’ IDs and passwords (PW). They also emphasized precautions to prevent information leakage through secondary additional authentication such as fingerprint, one-time password (OTP), and email verification. It was recommended not to use personal information when creating IDs and PWs for the first time, and guidance was provided on how students should respond when faced with cyberbullying.
On the 7th, the ‘KPMG Global Cyber Day’ event was held for 120 students at Isu Middle School located in Seocho-gu, Seoul, where safe personal information protection methods were shared. Kim Minsu, Executive Director and Cyber Security Leader of Samjong KPMG Digital Tech Division, said, “Cyber security directly affects daily life as students are easily exposed to personal information theft, online harassment, and assault in online games and SNS,” adding, “We held the ‘KPMG Global Cyber Day’ event to support students in safely responding to cyber security threats on their own.”
