The 'Golf Emperor' Tiger Woods and his son Charlie teamed up on the 20th (Korean time) to shoot a combined 15-under par at the final day of the PNC Championship (total prize money $1,085,000) held at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida, USA (par 72, 7,106 yards), finishing as runners-up (25-under par 119 strokes). This event features 20 major champions competing in pairs with their families over 36 holes. The father-son duo John Daly added 15-under par to secure a 2-stroke victory (27-under par 117 strokes).
‘Team Woods’ recorded an eagle on the 3rd hole (par 5) along with 13 birdies. The format is a scramble where both players tee off, then from the better position, they take their second shots. They opened the scoring early with consecutive birdies on holes 1 and 2, and on the 3rd hole (par 5), Woods reached the green in two shots, and Charlie sank the eagle putt, showcasing perfect teamwork. Remarkably, they made 11 consecutive birdies from the 7th hole (par 4). Charlie sealed the round with a brilliant tee shot close to the hole on the 17th hole (par 3).
Last year, they made their debut in this tournament, finishing tied for 7th (20-under par 124 strokes), and Woods’ participation after a 10-month hiatus following a car accident in February drew global golf attention. After releasing a video of him swinging a golf club last month, Woods appeared at the driving range of the Albany Golf Club in the Bahamas throughout the four days of the PGA Tour Hero World Challenge, which ended on the 6th, signaling his comeback.
Woods spent three months bedridden and underwent long-term treatment and rehabilitation using a wheelchair and crutches. He moved around using a golf cart and showed some discomfort in his leg right after his tee shot on the 16th hole (par 4) on the first day. However, he hit drives over 300 yards, and his sharp iron shots and dazzling short game stood out. He cheered, saying, "I’m satisfied that both legs are intact and I can walk," and added, "I had the best time with my son."
