Imsil-gun Selected as an 'Excellent Institution' in Basic Pension Project Evaluation

[Imsil=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, has been selected as an excellent institution that has greatly contributed to the stabilization of the elderly's lives and the promotion of welfare through the Basic Pension project.

The county announced on the 17th that it was selected as an excellent institution in the '2021 Basic Pension Project Meritorious Institution Evaluation' hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

This selection targets local governments that have contributed to the stabilization of the elderly's lives and welfare promotion through the Basic Pension project over the past year.

It is a nationwide evaluation by the Ministry of Health and Welfare to commend meritorious institutions to boost morale and publicize exemplary cases of proactive work performance.

The selection is based on the combined results of project performance such as the discovery performance of Basic Pension recipients, benefit receipt rate, application rate, recovery rate of fraudulent benefits, and cooperation performance with the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

This year, the county allocated a budget of 29.7 billion KRW to provide Basic Pensions amounting to about 2.3 billion KRW monthly to approximately 8,577 recipients, about 85% of the elderly population of 10,089, thereby helping the elderly's lives and contributing to welfare improvement.

The county guides seniors turning 65 to apply in advance and actively performs tasks such as direct visits to mobility-impaired seniors and discovering unregistered elderly who have not received benefits to eliminate blind spots.

The county has received favorable reviews for promoting various filial piety policies for local seniors.

Since the elderly population aged 65 and over accounts for 38% of the total residents in Imsil-gun, the county has promoted multifaceted welfare services including jobs, culture, health, and transportation to improve elderly welfare.

Through the operation of the Imsil-gun Senior Comprehensive Welfare Center, a specialized institution for seniors, it provides high-quality welfare, leisure, and cultural life for the elderly.

In particular, the small public bathhouses for residents and the policy of providing bath coupons for seniors have received great responses from the elderly.

For health welfare, a physical therapy room is operated, and special attention is given to transportation welfare by operating a happiness bus and call taxis for residents living in transportation-deprived areas and mobility-impaired seniors.

The county has significantly expanded customized filial piety jobs for local seniors, increasing the related budget next year to 7.3 billion KRW, up 800 million KRW from this year’s 6.5 billion KRW, and expanding the number of participants from 1,930 to 2,042.

County Governor Shim Min said, “We will actively discover eligible recipients so that more seniors can receive the Basic Pension,” and added, “We will work harder to promote elderly welfare services so that local seniors can enjoy a vibrant old age.”
