A Night Embroidered with Brilliant Lights like 'Sowondeung'... Gangnam-gu Creates a 'Street of Light'
Lighting Enhances Year-End Atmosphere Throughout Streets of Gangnam-gu Office... 'Bear Balloon' Installed at Main Entrance
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) has created a "Street of Light" with colorful illuminations along major streets in the district, around the 22 neighborhood community centers, and in front of the district office to celebrate the year-end season.
First, each neighborhood community center decorated its streets with lighting that highlights its unique characteristics. Samsung 2-dong adorned the street near Samsung Jungang Station with 300 "wish lanterns" made by residents themselves. In Sinsa-dong Garosu-gil, Apgujeong-dong Rodeo Street, and Cheongdam-dong Taste Street, chandelier LED lights were installed on street lamps to create a romantic atmosphere.
Milky Way lights twinkle between trees near heavily trafficked areas such as Gangnam Station, Yeoksam Station, Seolleung Station, and major intersections on Teheran-ro. A total of 312 flower beds and street trees were decorated with bulbs and ball lights to evoke a festive year-end mood.
The district held a lighting ceremony on the 7th in front of the district office. Along with a large tree, the dazzling light decorations and various sculptures provide a visual spectacle. Notably, the main entrance features the artwork "Bear Balloon" by artist Lim Ji-bin, offering a photo zone for visitors to the district office.
