Coway Wins Grand Prize in Carbon Neutral Management at Global Standard Management Awards

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Coway (CEO Lee Hae-sun and Seo Jang-won) announced on the 2nd that it received the Grand Prize in the Carbon Neutral Management category and the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Commendation for Energy Management Service Merit at the '2021 Global Standard Management Awards.'
The Global Standard Management Awards is a system in which the Korea Management Certification Institute discovers and awards domestic companies and organizations with excellent carbon-neutral management strategies and continuous implementation performance based on external disclosure data. It targets companies with sales of over 200 billion KRW and more than 300 employees.
Coway received high scores for its carbon-neutral management and energy management achievements, winning the Grand Prize in the Carbon Neutral Management category. In addition, it received the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Commendation for Energy Management Service Merit for exemplary efforts in global environmental conservation and corporate energy efficiency, contributing to national economic development.
Since declaring environmental management in 2006, Coway announced 'carbon neutrality (net-zero) by 2050.' It is leading eco-friendly business throughout the entire product process, including product development, production, collection, and recycling. The Icon water purifier, a representative eco-friendly product, has an energy consumption efficiency rating of Grade 1 and won the 'Energy Technology Award' at the '24th Energy Winner of the Year Awards.'
Additionally, to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and other environmentally harmful substances generated during the manufacturing process, solar power generation facilities are operated at the Yugu factory, Incheon factory, Pocheon factory, and logistics center. Last year, Coway achieved the performance of producing electricity equivalent to reducing approximately 106 tons of greenhouse gases.
