"Don't Ring the Doorbell"... 40s Man Threatens Delivery Worker with Weapon, Sentenced to Prison

[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] A man in his 40s who threatened a delivery worker with a weapon for not following a request to not ring the doorbell was sentenced to prison.
The Incheon District Court Criminal Division 6 (Judge Nam Seung-min) announced on the 30th that it sentenced A (42) to 4 months in prison on charges of special intimidation.
A was prosecuted for threatening delivery worker B with a weapon on the stairs in front of his home in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon, around 2:15 p.m. on August 16 last year.
At the time, A had written a request asking not to ring the doorbell before ordering delivery food, but B did not see it and rang the doorbell, which led to the crime. A sent text messages to B such as "Come out, you XX," and "I told you not to call while I'm sleeping. Do you want to die?" and threatened B with a weapon when B returned.
Police investigation revealed that A had a prior record of violent crimes.

The court explained the sentencing, saying, "The defendant threatened the victim, who was leaving after completing the delivery, with a prepared weapon after making him return," and "Considering the content of the text messages sent to the victim and the danger of the weapon, the nature of the crime is very serious."
