View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Professor Lee Sujeong of the Department of Criminal Psychology at Kyonggi University, who was appointed as co-chair of the People Power Party's election countermeasures committee, announced on the 30th that she would meet and talk with Representative Lee Jun-seok, who has publicly opposed her recruitment.
The co-chair appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' on the same day and said, "I also have a son in his 30s," adding, "I have closely observed how they have grown up. Recently, men in their 20s and 30s may feel that the competition is unfair."
She added, "That part needs to be corrected, and some thoughts may be excessive and need to be rectified, so such a conversation is absolutely necessary. Personally, I went with that thought." When asked if she intended to meet and persuade Representative Lee, she replied, "Of course."
Co-chair Lee raised strong doubts about Democratic Party candidate Lee Jae-myung's defense of his nephew on the grounds of 'diminished mental capacity.' She explained, "There are various ways to defend. Families can write petitions and submit them to the court, or have the person write daily letters of remorse, submitting hundreds of such letters to the court." She emphasized, "There are various defense arguments, but I cannot accept claiming diminished mental capacity without an official diagnosis." She continued, "I also believe that having a murderer in the family cannot be a reason for criticism. The problem is not making personal attacks based on such things, but rather a matter of philosophy."
She also said she accepted the co-chair position because the pledges announced by People Power Party presidential candidate Yoon Seok-youl were insufficient. Co-chair Lee said, "There is the Protective Custody Act and laws about wearing electronic anklets for life, but I don't understand how these are youth policies. Starting from false accusations of sexual violence, someone needs to explain more concretely what kinds of problems are occurring on the ground," she said.

Regarding Professor Choi Bae-geun posting side-by-side photos of Professor Jo Dong-yeon, appointed as co-chair of the Democratic Party's joint standing election committee, and Co-chair Lee on his SNS with the caption 'Difference?', Co-chair Lee pointed out, "There is about a 20-year age difference. Instead of asking 'Difference?', he should have asked 'What are the similarities?'. She said, "She is also a professional, probably a working woman raising children, and I understand very well the ongoing pain she is experiencing. So the question should have been 'What are the similarities?'"
