BTS Completes Second LA Concert... 106,000 Fans Attend Over Two Days
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The group BTS met their fans through an in-person concert for the first time in about two years.
BTS held their ‘BTS PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE - LA’ tour concert at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, USA, on the 27th and 28th (local time). Over the two days, approximately 106,000 spectators shared the experience with BTS.
This concert marked the resumption of offline performances for BTS after about two years since their ‘2019 BTS WORLD TOUR 'LOVE YOURSELF: SPEAK YOURSELF' [THE FINAL]’ held in Seoul in 2019, drawing global attention even before the show began.
The performance started with the eye-catching ‘ON’ stage featuring dazzling sets and powerful performances. BTS then passionately sang a total of 24 songs including ‘Fire’, ‘Dope’, ‘DNA’, ‘Black Swan’, ‘Blood Sweat & Tears’, ‘Life Goes On’, ‘Dynamite’, ‘IDOL’, ‘Butter’, and ‘Permission to Dance’. The setlist was enriched with additional songs such as ‘We are Bulletproof : the Eternal’ and ‘I'm Fine’, which were not seen in the online concert held on the 24th of last month.
At the second show on the 28th, Megan Thee Stallion, who featured in the remix version of ‘Butter’, appeared as a surprise guest. BTS and Megan Thee Stallion performed together, elevating the concert atmosphere to its peak. Tens of thousands of fans in the audience waved BTS’s light sticks called ‘ARMY Bombs’, sang along, and did wave motions, adding to the energy of the approximately 150-minute-long performance.
At the end of the second day’s concert, BTS shared their thoughts: “We are able to meet you like this again. Yesterday felt like a dream, and it still does now. It feels like we and these songs have finally found their place. We truly feel the cheers and passion of ARMY, and everything we see is incredible. Let’s have one more concert in our dreams today.”
The concert also featured a ‘LIVE PLAY in LA’ event where fans could watch the performance in real time on a separate screen. Fans worldwide watched the concert together through a large screen installed at the specialized venue ‘YouTube Theater’ located in Los Angeles, sharing the emotional moments.
BTS set new records with this concert. SoFi Stadium announced, “BTS sold out all four shows for the first time in SoFi Stadium’s history,” and added, “They also set the record for the highest ticket sales among solo band or artist performances held at SoFi Stadium.”
