Government Provides $32 Million in Humanitarian Aid to Afghanistan
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] The government has decided to provide humanitarian aid worth 32 million dollars (approximately 38.2 billion KRW) to the people of Afghanistan.
This humanitarian aid will be delivered through UN agencies operating in Afghanistan, focusing on food, protection of internally displaced persons, and basic healthcare. Priority will be given to the most vulnerable children and women.
The government also plans to support Afghan refugees in Iran and Pakistan with food and basic healthcare.
This decision comes amid concerns that currently 95% of the population in Afghanistan is experiencing food shortages, and by next year, 97% of the population may be living below the poverty line.
