Hyundai Rises to 2nd Place in 'Popular' Sales in Australia
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Hyundai Motor Company has been found to be gaining significant popularity in the Australian market.
According to related industries on the 28th, Hyundai sold about 6,200 units in Australia last month, an increase of about 3% compared to the same period last year, rising to second place in total car sales.
From the beginning of this year through October, cumulative sales reached about 61,000 units, an increase of about 10,000 units compared to last year. This is the first time since October 2019 that Hyundai has ranked second in sales volume in Australia.
Among the top seven brands in sales volume, Hyundai was the only one to increase sales compared to last year, surpassing third-place Ford and fourth-place Mazda. The first place was held by Japan's Toyota, maintaining a market share in the 20% range. Kia ranked fifth.
By model, the i30 and Tucson sold approximately 1,800 and 1,500 units respectively. In particular, the i30 recorded a 36% increase in sales compared to last year, ranking fourth among models.
Hyundai is strengthening its position not only with existing internal combustion engine vehicles but also through eco-friendly cars such as the first dedicated electric vehicle Ioniq 5 and the hydrogen fuel cell vehicle Nexo.
