Muju-gun Selected as an Excellent Institution in Agricultural Machinery Rental Business Evaluation
Secured 200 Million KRW in National Funding for Agricultural Machinery Replacement Support Project
[Muju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Muju County announced on the 26th that it secured 200 million KRW in national funds for the replacement of outdated agricultural machinery, after being selected as an excellent institution in the 2021 Agricultural Machinery Rental Business Evaluation hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
Muju County operates three agricultural machinery rental centers, possessing 430 rental agricultural machines of 75 types, including excavators and riding mowers.
Every year, about 4,000 farming households use the rental agricultural machinery, easing the burden of purchasing agricultural machines.
Additionally, efforts are being made to reduce the cost of purchasing agricultural machinery and to increase the mechanization rate of field crops, while striving to maximize farmers' convenience by operating rental centers on holidays.
Muju County also runs a farming work agency service for households that find it difficult to operate agricultural machinery due to the aging and feminization of the rural population, thereby reducing the burden of agricultural machinery operation.
Representative types of work using agricultural machinery include harvesting forage crops (rye, corn, Sudan grass), harvesting rice, barley, and soybeans, greenhouse, field, and rotary tiller work, and rice straw work.
