Gwangju Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corporation Wins '2021 Carbon Neutral Green Management Award'

The ‘Green Management Awards’ is a government award jointly hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of Environment to promote the spread of green management. Since 2006, it has been awarded annually to companies, organizations, and contributors who have contributed to green management promotion and the environmental industry.
In April, the corporation held the first-ever ‘ESG Management Declaration Ceremony’ among nationwide urban railway operators, selecting and promoting 112 ESG management tasks for eco-friendly, social value, and transparent management, recognizing its efforts toward sustainable growth.
In particular, actively responding to worsening climate change, it has carried out vigorous activities such as establishing an ecological transportation linkage system connecting subway and bicycle, and providing urban railway fare support for pregnant women and families with multiple children to realize carbon neutrality centered on revitalizing public transportation.
Additionally, through continuous green management since its opening, it shares accumulated eco-friendly know-how with society via talent donation green sharing, cultural program promotion, and other initiatives, conducting green projects together with citizens.
President Yoon Jinbo said, “I am pleased that our efforts to pursue sustainable growth together with citizens through ESG management have been recognized,” and added, “We will do our best to contribute to realizing carbon-neutral Gwangju by 2045.”
