On the 24th, the city held a completion ceremony for the Mokpo Fisheries Cooperative bypass road connection project next to the Mokpo office of the National Land Safety Management Agency's Special Facility Management Division, attended by Mayor Kim Jongsik of Mokpo and local residents.
As the Mokpo Fisheries Cooperative is scheduled to relocate to the Bukhang hinterland, traffic congestion was expected due to the increase in citizens, tourists, and logistics vehicles visiting the wholesale market in the Bukhang area.
To prepare for this situation, the city invested 700 million KRW and started construction of the Mokpo Fisheries Cooperative bypass road connection project in April, completing it this month.
The newly established section extends the existing endpoint of the road that turns right just before entering the Mokpo Bridge from the Bukhang intersection by 312 meters. The lanes are constructed on both sides with the Mokpo Bridge pier in the middle. Using this road, vehicles can turn right to enter the Fisheries Cooperative relocation site without passing through the Bukhang wharf, and from the relocation site, they can turn left to enter the Bukhang intersection direction.
