Chorokbaem Media to Premiere Drama 'Eoneunal' with IP Ownership on 27th: "Full-Scale Launch of IP-Centered Comprehensive Content Business"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Chorokbaem Media announced on the 24th that the pre-produced drama 'Eoneu Nal' (One Day), which is the first to hold its own IP (intellectual property rights), is scheduled to be broadcast on the OTT platform 'Coupang Play' on the 27th.
The drama 'Eoneu Nal' is a work that generated sales by securing its own IP and supplying it to domestic and international OTT platforms. It stars top-tier Korean actors such as Kim Soo-hyun and Cha Seung-won, and is directed by Lee Myung-woo, famous for 'The Fiery Priest' and 'Backstreet Rookie'.
'Eoneu Nal' became a major topic from the production stage and has already signed distribution rights contracts not only domestically (Coupang Play) but also with global OTT platforms such as Japan (Amazon Prime), Southeast Asia, Middle East, and South Africa (Viu).
Starting with 'Eoneu Nal', Chorokbaem Media plans to actively strengthen the proportion of pre-produced dramas utilizing its own IP. It aims to restructure the existing revenue model limited to outsourced production and expand the share of self-owned IP dramas to maximize sales by generating new additional revenues such as licensing business as well as domestic and international distribution rights revenue.
A representative of Chorokbaem Media said, "Recently, OTT operators have been explosively increasing not only in Korea but worldwide, elevating the status of content providers (CP) like Chorokbaem Media that hold their own IP," adding, "With self-owned IP, we can directly lead overseas sales and gain an advantage in domestic and international rights negotiations."
