In response, the Daegu Office of Education stated that they are "investigating to prepare countermeasures."
A, a student who took the CSAT at Sangwon High School in Daegu, posted a message titled "My first CSAT as a high school senior was completely ruined due to a proctor's mistake" on an online community for test takers on the 19th.
A said that 10 minutes after the first period Korean language exam began, the proctor in the exam room instructed him to "start with the elective subject questions." He said, "I thought something was strange, but since there is no such rule, I continued solving the problems as I was. When I was on page 2 of the reading comprehension section, the proctor forcibly grabbed my test paper and turned it to page 9 of the Hwakjak (Speech and Composition) section." According to CSAT regulations, there is no rule stating which subject to solve first in the current Korean language CSAT, which is divided into common and elective subjects.
A said, "I couldn't understand the situation (the proctor's instruction), but the act of forcibly turning the test paper was too coercive," adding, "My mental state broke down, and I completely ruined the Korean exam, losing more than 10 points just in the Hwakjak section."
He continued, "After the exam was over, I went to the exam headquarters to explain the situation, but there was no contact until late at night," and "The next day, the proctor contacted me, and when my parents asked, 'How will you take responsibility?' the proctor said, 'What do you want? Do you want to proceed with a lawsuit? Or will you claim damages?' My hands and feet trembled, and I felt so unfair and frustrated," expressing his anger.
Regarding this, the Daegu Office of Education announced on the 22nd that they are investigating the circumstances after confirming the proctor's mistake. The Daegu Office of Education said, "We have completed a phone investigation regarding the incident that occurred at the Sangwon High School test site in Daegu on the 18th," and "The investigation confirmed that the student's claim is true to some extent."
