With this, a foundation has been established in Gyeongnam to actively revitalize local tourism led by residents and to promote the cultural and economic activation of local communities.
The ordinance contains necessary provisions to foster and support tourism businesses voluntarily operated through cooperation among local residents. It also stipulates the governor's responsibilities for fostering resident-led tourism businesses, the establishment of promotion plans, and matters related to surveys.
Assemblyman Jeong stated, "This ordinance enables the development of tourism content utilizing local resources with residents at the center, moving away from the government-led top-down development approach," and added, "In the future, the benefits and outcomes of tourism businesses will be directly reflected in local communities and serve as a basis for creating local jobs."
He continued, "I hope that this will serve as an opportunity to attract many tourists to Gyeongnam, which has various tourism resources including the natural treasure Hallyeohaesudo, and become a driving force for regional economic development."
