View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] The controversy over the 'poor response' that erupted after a police officer left the victims at the scene during the 'inter-floor noise weapon rampage' incident at a villa in Incheon is intensifying. A petition demanding the dismissal of this police officer has even appeared on the Blue House's national petition board.
On the 18th, a post titled 'Request for dismissal of the police officer who abandoned the victims and fled' was uploaded on the Blue House national petition board.
The petitioner referred to the recent weapon rampage incident at a multi-family housing complex in Incheon and criticized, "How long must we continue to trust the police?" and "Do we now have to think that the police officer might run away?"
They continued, "In a situation where it was clear that harm would occur due to the criminal, what should the police have done? Requesting backup via radio, shouting for support, preparing to use a taser and firearm, protecting the victims, and warning the perpetrator," adding, "At least one of these four actions should have been taken, and it would have been right to do all of them, but the police officer left the victims and fled the scene, and the perpetrator was subdued by the husband," expressing outrage.
They urged, "Please dismiss the officer through disciplinary action to prevent behavior that abandons victims and causes danger."

View original imageThe incident occurred around 4:50 p.m. on the 15th at a villa in Namdong-gu, Incheon. On that day, a man in his 40s, Mr. A, went on a rampage wielding a weapon against a neighboring family of three, including Mr. B, his wife, and daughter. As a result, Mr. B was stabbed in the neck and lost consciousness, and both his wife and daughter were stabbed in multiple parts of their bodies.
It was confirmed that about four hours before the crime, Mr. A had already had a conflict with Mr. B's family over inter-floor noise issues. At that time, a 112 emergency call related to this was received, and a team consisting of one male and one female police officer was dispatched to the villa.
The police separated Mr. A on the 4th floor of the residence, but Mr. A came back down to the 3rd floor where Mr. B's family was and wielded the weapon again. During this process, the female police officer who was with Mr. B's wife and daughter reportedly left the scene and ran down to the 1st floor, citing a request for backup.
Mr. B's family initially claimed that the damage worsened because the police left the crime scene and raised issues about the police response at the time of the incident. In relation to this, the Incheon Police Agency's inspection department and the 112 situation room are conducting a joint investigation into whether the police officers who responded to the scene acted appropriately.
