View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] Kim Sang-yeol, chairman of the Hoban Scholarship Foundation, received the Friendship Order, the highest honor awarded to foreigners by the Vietnamese government.
On the 18th, Hoban Group announced that Kim Sang-yeol, chairman of the Hoban Scholarship Foundation, received the Friendship Order from Nguyen Vu Tung, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Korea, at the award ceremony held at Hoban Park in Seocho-gu.
The ceremony was attended by Nguyen Vu Tung, Vietnamese Ambassador to Korea; Kim Sang-yeol, chairman of the Hoban Scholarship Foundation; Woo Hyun-hee, chairman of the Taeseong Cultural Foundation; and Kim Seon-gyu, chairman of Hoban Group. The Vietnamese Friendship Order is the highest grade medal awarded by the President of Vietnam to foreigners or organizations that have contributed to the development of friendly relations with Vietnam.
Since 2015, Kim Sang-yeol has served as the Honorary Consul General of Vietnam for Gwangju and Jeonnam for six years, engaging in various activities to promote friendship between the two countries, including cooperation with the Vietnam Planning and Investment Agency and the Gwangju region, signing business agreements between Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City and Ba Don City, Quang Binh Province, Vietnam, signing business agreements between Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City and Hoi An City, Quang Nam Province, Vietnam, and co-hosting the 25th anniversary event of Korea-Vietnam diplomatic relations with the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea.
In the private sector, he supported volunteer activities by the Gwangju Youth Center in Vietnam, Korea-Vietnam art exchange exhibitions, and also carried out activities for the Vietnamese community such as Vietnamese community exchange meetings, the 24th anniversary cultural festival of diplomatic relations, and community counseling.

Since 2014, Kim Sang-yeol has provided scholarships to over 80 Vietnamese multicultural families and international students, and has been recognized for his efforts in nurturing talent by sponsoring the Vietnamese Youth Scientists Academic Conference.
