Korea Petroleum Quality Management Institute: "20 Companies Certified 'Compliant' After Introducing Rapid Urea Water Inspection Test"
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] The Korea Petroleum Management Service announced on the 18th that since introducing the fast-track urea water inspection on the 8th to resolve the shortage of urea water supply caused by China, a total of 20 import and manufacturing companies have received approval.
Since the urea water crisis, a total of 56 quality inspection cases have been officially submitted to the Petroleum Management Service as of the 17th. Among the 25 companies whose inspections have been completed, 20 manufacturing and import companies were approved. Through this quality inspection, more than 1.5 million liters of urea water are expected to be supplied. According to the National Institute of Environmental Research, the daily consumption of urea water for domestic transportation is about 600,000 liters, which corresponds to 2.5 days' worth of supply.
The remaining five companies received non-compliance results for failing to meet manufacturing standards. The Petroleum Management Service is providing technical support consulting, including feedback on analysis results, to ensure rapid re-inspection for these companies.
Currently, the Petroleum Management Service is analyzing samples from 31 companies and plans to complete the quality inspections promptly. There are 26 companies expected to apply in the future.
Earlier, to alleviate the shortage of automotive urea water supply, the Petroleum Management Service shortened the inspection period from the previous 20 days to within 5 days on the 8th. The inspection submission method was also simplified by temporarily allowing on-site visits to the Petroleum Management Service in addition to the existing method of collecting samples at the urea water production site. The two institutions authorized to inspect automotive urea water are the Petroleum Management Service and the National Institute of Environmental Research’s Transportation Environment Research Institute. In addition to the urea water inspection fast track, weekend visit submissions were allowed to ensure not only the speed but also the convenience of urea water inspections.
