According to Wonkwang Electric on the 18th, it recently received environmental label certification from the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute for achievements in resource circulation improvement, energy saving, and environmental pollution reduction, and was selected for the pilot purchase project of technology development products conducted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
The distinction of Wonkwang Electric Co., Ltd.'s solar streetlights lies in the application of lithium batteries manufactured by selecting used batteries from electric vehicles.
This product enhances battery efficiency, a chronic issue in existing solar streetlights, and adds wireless communication functions capable of battery status monitoring, enabling battery history management, lifespan prediction, and streetlight fault inspection.
Even if the technology development product has high technological capability, it is difficult for small and medium enterprises to pioneer new sales channels. To solve this problem, Wonkwang Electric applied for the 2021 pilot purchase project of technology development products conducted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, received a technology evaluation, and obtained the status of public institution pilot purchase.
The pilot purchase system reduces the audit burden of public institutions, allowing active purchase review and utilization, and small and medium enterprises gain opportunities to supply products recognized for excellence and innovation through the public procurement market.
Jeon Yeon-su, CEO of Wonkwang Electric Co., Ltd., expressed his ambition, saying, “During the pilot purchase period targeting 472 public institutions nationwide, we will introduce our products through sales channel development and the pilot purchase system, enter the market for used electric vehicle batteries, and become a company leading the eco-friendly recycling of the massively increasing waste batteries in the future.”
Detailed specifications of the pilot purchase products can be found on the Public Procurement Service’s Venture Nara or Wonkwang Electric’s website.
