City Labs Launches New Gaming Business... Signs Publishing Contract for 'TaegoM'
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] City Labs, a KOSDAQ-listed company, has officially launched its new game business based on blockchain technology.
On the 17th, City Labs announced that it had signed a publishing contract for the exclusive domestic service of the authentic MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) "TaegoM (working title)," which achieved first place in various game sectors in the Chinese and Vietnamese markets, in partnership with Gaia Mobile Korea.
"TaegoM," developed by China's Gaia Mobile, first launched in August last year in Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, and subsequently expanded to China, Thailand, and Vietnam. Following its domestic service, the game is set to enter the Japanese market next year. It has recorded remarkable success in the world's largest market, China, ranking 10th in revenue on Android and sweeping first place in free games, action, and MMO categories on iOS. Additionally, it ranked within the top 5 in all regions it entered, including Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
City Labs has completed the final localization and compatibility testing for the first domestic service of "TaegoM" and plans to begin full-scale pre-registration from mid-next month, with official service starting in mid-January next year.
This publishing contract marks the first step in City Labs' new blockchain game business. Although "TaegoM" is not a blockchain-linked service, the company expects various business achievements to follow, as it has succeeded in publishing a blockbuster game that has been successful in the global market as its first move in the new business.
Jo Youngjoong, CEO of City Labs, said, "Publishing a blockbuster game verified in the global market will be an invaluable experience as we push forward with our blockchain game business. We plan to maintain active communication with the developer and prepare to ensure meaningful results from the very first step."

"TaegoM," which City Labs is publishing, is based on the Chinese classic mythology "Shanhaijing (山海經)" and constructs a worldview set in the Taego (Ancient) era, where the boundaries between heaven and earth were blurred. It tells the story of six races?humans, ghosts, yokai, gods, shamans, and demons?engaged in conflict. Players take on the role of Hwonseong Sosa-myeong, traveling to tame wild monsters and participate in grand battles and adventures involving legendary gods. Featuring traditional East Asian painting-style graphics, "TaegoM" offers a distinctive system where masters can pass martial arts skills to disciples, along with various sect-related content, fully capturing the charm of a classic MMORPG.
