‘Wadiz Funding’ is an online platform called ‘Space Wadiz’ that hosts excellent designs or innovative products that appeal to consumers in an online mall, operating on a pre-order, post-production basis.
It allows product production and sales through funding from prospective buyers without capital, and related funded products can be experienced and sold through a separately prepared space and maker store, already receiving high responses from related companies and buyers.
Accordingly, the district participated in ‘Wadiz Funding’ to read the rapidly changing consumer preferences and consumption patterns in the clothing manufacturing sector and tried a new marketing strategy departing from the existing production methods.
In collaboration with the Seongdong Fashion Sewing Association, the district produced samples of about 30 design garments and completed basic preparations for funding participation, such as product planning and content story composition, through a professional service agency. On the 12th of this month, after the Seoul City clothing manufacturers’ collaborative winter product evaluation meeting, two products were selected, and these products will be produced by local sewing companies according to buyers’ orders through funding.
Since garments can be produced and sold only according to the order quantity requested by consumers, it is expected to reduce clothing waste such as raw materials. In addition, the district official explained that the joint brand of Seongdong-gu sewing companies, ‘BASEOVER,’ will be indicated as the producer on ‘Wadiz Funding,’ which will enhance brand image and promotional effects, enabling stable production work creation.
Earlier this year, the district opened the Seongdong Smart Fashion Center, establishing a joint production infrastructure for clothing manufacturing and officially starting the leap of the fashion manufacturing industry. Through the ‘Seoul City Fashion Sewing Specialized Commercial District Development and Support Project,’ it promoted 110 training sessions such as Seongdong fashion sewing CAD and hand patterns, and supported the purchase of sewing equipment related to revitalizing the sewing industry, including pattern, grading, marking systems, and basic automatic marker systems. It has also actively participated in improving safe working environments with powder fire extinguishers, heaters, and ventilators, leading support for fashion sewing companies.
Mr. Park ○○, who runs a clothing sewing business in Doseon-dong, Wangsimni, Seongdong-gu, said, “I think it is a very innovative idea for Seongdong-gu to promote a business that can sell products on the online platform Wadiz Funding,” and added, “I hope many products can participate in such funding.”

Seongdong-gu Mayor Jung Won-oh said, “Due to the continuous economic downturn caused by the spread of COVID-19, product production has sharply decreased, increasing the burden on clothing manufacturers, so we planned to participate in this online platform.” He added, “We will continue to make multifaceted efforts so that the fashion sewing industry can maintain high-quality design support and marketing.”
