[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The '70th Gaecheon Arts Festival,' which opened centered around Jinju Fortress in line with the transition to With Corona, came to a grand close on the evening of the 14th with the performance of 'Chokseoksanseong Aria.'
The closing performance 'Chokseoksanseong Aria' is an original musical performed on a special stage at the Imjin War Battle Memorial Site, themed on the Battle of Jinju, storytelling the tense and breathless victorious situation of the time.
It is the highlight of the Gaecheon Arts Festival, commemorating the Battle of Jinju, one of the three major battles of the Imjin War won by the unity of civilians, government, and military, and further fostering it as a differentiated tourism product.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Gaecheon Arts Festival, which has contributed to the development of local culture and arts as the pioneer of regional comprehensive arts festivals.
Starting with the memorial ceremony and opening ceremony held on the 7th at Chokseokru of Jinju Fortress, the festival unfolded in a variety of ways including arts competitions, old downtown arts celebration events, Jinju Fortress themed busking performances, and various exhibitions.
The arts competition was conducted online in a non-face-to-face format. Programs expected to attract large crowds, such as the Pungmul market, food stalls, and some experience events, were canceled or scaled down.
The Jinju Fortress themed busking performances, held once on weekdays and twice on weekends, played a role in guaranteeing the artistic activities of local artists facing difficult economic conditions while boosting the festival atmosphere.
