Hamyang-gun Reports 12 Confirmed Cases... Suspected Breakthrough Infections
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] In Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam, 12 COVID-19 cases were collectively confirmed in one day on the 15th, raising alarms for the quarantine authorities.
The county operated a mobile screening clinic and conducted tests on 135 people as sporadic cases occurred in some areas of Anui-myeon and Seoha-myeon. As a result, 12 people (Hamyang cases 88 to 99) tested positive on the 15th.
The confirmed cases are known to have completed their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and the infection route is under investigation.
The county is focusing on quickly conducting epidemiological investigations to block the spread of infection. The mobile screening clinics are set up at Anui-myeon Health Center and in front of the Nonghyup in Seoha-myeon, operating until the 16th, and plans to conduct comprehensive testing in nearby areas as well.
Additionally, disinfection is being carried out along the movement paths of confirmed cases. To promote quarantine guidelines, messages and village broadcasts are being used, and 133 inspection teams with about 260 personnel have been organized under a department responsibility system to strengthen special inspections of over 1,250 multi-use facilities, mobilizing all administrative efforts to prevent further spread.

A county official stated, “To prevent further spread, thorough participation in quarantine by all residents is necessary,” and urged, “Please adhere to basic quarantine rules such as wearing masks indoors and outdoors, hand washing, and ventilation.”
